Basic Vegan Gravy
- Cook gently:
- ¼ c flour
- ¼ c margarine
- Add 1 ½ c soymilk (with ONLY soybeans and water on label) OR use water.
- 2 T soysauce
- 1-2 T vegetarian broth powder (I like Frontier Brand Beefy Broth)
- 1 teaspoon Braggs or browning liquid
- 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
- 1/2 t sage (optional)
- salt and pepper to taste
- Cook and stir until thickened.
Tips:
- Gravy is great on mashed pototoes, or stuffing, of course.
- Stir some mushrooms into gravy.
- Add vegi sausage or burger and serve as biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
- Try adding Garlic or other spices.
- Add more margarine for richer flavor...
Vegan Gravy with tahini
- mix:1 1/2 T cornstarch
- 2 T soysauce
- 2 C water
- 1 t poultry seasoning (sage, thyme, rosemary, marjoram, pepper)
- Heat until slightly thickened.
- Stir in:
- ¼ C tahini
