Recipes for homemade Lentil burgers

Vegan HOME MADE Lentil Burger Recipes

Lentil Burger

  • Saute'
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 4 T vegan margarine (or oil)
  • Mix in:
  • Cooked lentils (About 3 cups)
  • 1 t dry mustard
  • 1 T vegan Worcestershire
  • 1/2 pkg saltines
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • Add: Dry oats to thicken (about 1/2 cup)
  • Scoop about a patties worth into:
  • pre mixed:
  • 1/2 C flour
  • 1/2 C cornmeal
  • 1/2 C garbonzo/chickpea flour. (just use flour and cornmeal if you don't have any garbonzo flour)

  • Form into a patties, working flour into burger until it stays together well.
  • Fry in hot oil until lightly browned on both sides.

  • To Cook Lentils:
  • (Sort through to remove any pebbles...)
  • Boil/Simmer 1 c lentils in 2 1/2 cups lightly salted
  • water for 45 minutes.
  • Mash or blender smooth.
  • (I like to toss in some onion, garlic
  • and carrot while it cooks... can remove before mashing or just keep it in. Or just add a little broth powder to the water while cooking)

You can actually use almost any bean that mashes well.
