Homemade Multi grain Vegan Bread recipe, 5 grain bread, 7 grain bread

Favorite Multi grain bread

  • 2 Yeast
  • ¾ C water
  • ¼ C sugar
  • Proof til bubbly
  • ---------
  • Add rest of ingredients,
  • 2 2/3 C warm water
  • 1 ½ T salt
  • 3 T shortening
  • 1 C soymilk (plain, only soybeans and water on label)
  • ½ C ground oats
  • ¼ C cornmeal
  • 2 C WW flour
  • ¼ C ground flax
  • ¼ C bran
  • ½ C ground walnuts
  • Slowly adding flour…
  • about 8 C flour
  • ----------
  • until smooth and elastic not sticky.
  • Knead about 10 minutes
  • Cover Rise until doubled.
  • Punch rise again.
  • Punch divide in 2-3 loaves
  • Place in greased pans.
  • Rise.
  • Bake 400 30-35 minutes

Rub tops immediately after taking from oven, with vegan margarine for a nice shine.

  • Besides white flour and whole wheat flour, Use about 2 c variety of grains such as:
  • Ground oats, bran, cornmeal, seeds
  • ground flax, ground nuts...
