Homemade Bread bowls
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 T sugar
- 1 t salt
- 3-4 c flour
- 1 c warm water
- knead/rise/punch/rise
- divide into 4
- Form around upside down rounded ceramic soup bowl
- Let rise, upside down around bowl, on cookie sheet.
- Press slightly with other cookie sheet, so bottoms are flat.
- Make sure dough bowl is larger than ceramic bowl where you will remove it... .
- Bake 375 12-15 min
- Remove bowls and return bread to oven about 5 more min.
Tips:
- If bottoms aren't perfectly flat,
- Slice flat with a knife or serve on big bed of lettuce.
- Great for dips too!
- Add some whole wheat flour, corn meal, flax, oatmeal, etc to make bowls healthier!
To make a bread bowl out of a loaf of bread...
- Use a rounded loaf.
- Slice off top.
- Remove bread from inside loaf, leaving apx. 1 inch crust.
- Brush with oil.
- This works nicely but will get soggy quicker.
