BEST EVER bread sticks
- Mix 1 pkg yeast with 1/4 C warm water. Set aside
- Mix 3 1/2 - 4 + C flour
- 1 T sugar
- 1 t salt
- 14 T cold margarine, cut into flour
- Blend in 2/3 C ice water
- Knead gently until smooth
- Dont let the heat of your hands melt the margarine
- Form 3 balls, rise 1 hour
- roll flat 1/3" 6 x 12
- slice into 20 strips
- Bake 350 10-12 minutes until golden.
- optional (brush with margarine and garlic salt or just salt)
Tips: Great on their own, or serve with a spaghetti sauce to dip into.
Serve them standing upright in a tall mug or similar
Basic Bread sticks
- proof 2 yeast in ¼ c warm water
- Add:
- 1 C warm water
- 1 t salt
- 1 T sugar
- 3+ c flour
- Rise. Punch.
- Divide and roll into 40 sticks
- Greased sheet
- Rise.
- Spray with oil and poppy seeds or sesame seeds seeds/course salt

- Bake 300 45 minutes.
Great Overnight herbed bread sticks
- Mix/proof 1 pkg yeast
- 1 C warm water
- 1 T sugar
- Mix: 1 ½ t salt
- ½ t basil
- ½ t oregano
- 1 t garlic powder
- 1 ½ t parsley
- 1/3 C shortening
- 1 ½ C flour
- >Mix all. Knead, add more flour until not sticky.
- Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight
- Divide into 4 then 12 each roll pencil thin.
- brush with oil and sprinkle with seeds or course salt.
- Let rise.
- Bake 375 15 minutes or til done
